The halo laser treatment does have some downtime and recovery and your skin does require time to heal. During this time your skin is vulnerable to the sun and you should avoid exposure to UVA and UVB rays therefore the best time of year to have this treatment is winter. This is the time of year we are indoors and uv exposure is lower. Avoiding sun expose will ensure optimal results from your halo treatments.

Due to its fractionated nature, most patients require one to two HALO^™️ treatments to achieve their goals (depending on intensity). Then, our master estheticians can help maintain their patients’ results with a maintenance HALO treatment one or two times per year as needed.

The halo treatment works to reverse the signs of aging by damaging and removing the old damaged superficial epidermal cells of the skin. The dual laser technology penetrates deep into the skin using heat energy, this energy targets water within the skin.

This controlled processed causes damage to the skin that encourages the skins own natural wound healing response which in turns switches on the collagen and elastin production. This incredible process leads to skin that is healthy and rejuvenated with increased levels of collagen and elastin.

Yes, your skin does required preparation before treatment. It is advised to have a consultation with our master esthetician to ensure that you are using the correct cosmeceutical skin care products that is mandatory for the halo treatment. These skin care products safeguard and promote effective results with the halo treatment.

You also must avoid active skin care products such as vitamin A, BHA and AHAs 1 week prior to the halo treatment.

Avoid sun exposure for 2-4 weeks prior to laser, including fake tan. Please advise your skin clinician if you have an upcoming holiday. Wear sunscreen daily with vigilant application every two hours.

Please prep your skin with the prescribe skincare for you, avoid hot baths, saunas and exercise before the treatment. If you suffer from cold sores, please take the recommended medication to prevent a viral breakout. Take an anti-viral (for cold sores) medication the day before treatment and the day of treatment. Most importantly avoid the sun.

You will feel minimal discomfort during the treatment however you skin clinician will apply a topical anesthetic which will reduce the sensation of the laser. If you are prone to swelling it can be advised to take an antihistamine.

For the first 24 hours you will be instructed by your skin clinician of what products to use to protect and support your skin healing. Avoid the sun, exercise, hot showers and baths. Don not touch your face. Mineral make up can be applied the next day.

Weeks after the treatment is when you start to see the greatest improvement in the skin, the halo glow is undeniable. You need to continue to use the products that were first prescribe to you in the initial consultation especially sunscreen. Avoid sun exposure and other invasive skin treatments. 4 weeks post treatment is the perfect time to have another halo treatment.

The results and longevity of the treatment depends on the condition of the skin prior to treatment. When used in relatively healthy skin for fine lines, wrinkles and mild to moderate sun damage results will be evident after only one treatment.

For more severe sun damage, dyschromias and deeper scars and wrinkles, two or more treatments are recommended. On darker skin types, due to the risk of pigmentation changes, the settings used are much lower to ensure safety. As a result more treatment sessions will be required. Treatment of hormonal pigmentation will require multiple treatments at very low settings.

The Halo stimulates collagen which will continue in the 4-6 months following treatment, during this time the skin will continue to show improvements. Investing in the Halo is investing in your skin’s long term health.

Once the results are evident the skin will appear smoother and more refined with a decrease in sun damage, less fine lines and wrinkles and a clearer complexion. It is important to continue to look after the skin after a Halo treatment, to prevent any further damage. Strict adherence to sun protection, a prescription skin care product regime and maintenance treatments with the BBL other modalities are recommended.

Many client have a full Halo treatment twice a year as ‘maintenance’ with 3 monthly forever young BBL treatments to keep the skin healthy.
